The major electric furnace plants in Japan planned to produce 2.26 million tons of small-sized steel bar in the first quarter, up by 5.1% or 110,000 tons from 2.15 million tons in the same period of last year.
According to the production plan from Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the average output was 753,000 tons.
The production plan increased by 200,000 tons or 9.5% from 2.06 million tons in the fourth quarter a year ago.
