According to the statistics from Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA), the iron ore shipment in Port Hedland, one of the major iron ore exporting ports in Western Australia, reached around 43.5 million tons in September, up by 0.3% compared to the same month a year ago. The total shipment in the first 9 months this year amounted to 383.2 million tons roughly, a year-on-year increase of 4%.
The total shipment of iron ore in Port Hedland was predicted to come to 511 million tons this year, of which the export volume to China was up by 2.9% year on-year to 319.1 million tons, that to South Korea was up by 3.4% year on year to 29.8 million tons, and that to Japan was down by 0.9% year on year to 16.7 million tons.
Besides, Port Hedland’s iron ore exports to India hiked by 6.5 million tons roughly from January to September year on year, which were driven by the development of the local steel industry.
