Rebar, welded mesh, strands for pre-stressed concrete, structural steel beams, nails, annealed wire and steel plate will be used in the construction of turbines and the dam, as well as plumbing design, says ArcelorMittal.
While a 30kt shipment was made as long ago as October 2012, ArcelorMittal claims that an additional 20kt will be delivered before the end of 2017.
The hydro-electric dam project commands a budget of US$26 million and will generate an estimated 30,000 jobs. On completion, it will ''significantly increase'' the supply of renewable electricity in Brazil and will have an installed capacity of 11,233MW, which represents 40% of residential consumption and 10% of total consumption in the country.
The dam will be the second largest hydroelectric dam complex in Brazil and one of the world''s largest in terms of installed capacity.
