WindEurope calls for increased steel import quotas-The 20th China (Guangzhou) Int’l Spring Industry Exhibition

WindEurope CEO said that the steel demand in 2019 for offshore wind turbine was expected to grow by 36%, but EU''s steel import quota of 5% was relatively insufficient.
If the wind energy industry finally had to pay import tariffs, it will certainly lead to a rise in wind energy prices. In terms of wind turbines, required steels for manufacturing equipment accounted for more than half of all materials, and import tariffs will cause turbine prices to raise by 18%.
If the price of related equipment rises, then it will offset cost reduction effect in recent years. By 2030, EU target of renewable energy will be about 32% achievement, and it will consume more unnecessary costs and make goods manufactured by the EU less competitive.
